Following John Kerry’s surprise resignation Tuesday, Obama has selected Lord Paramount of the North, Ned Stark, as nominee for Secretary of State.
“Eddard Stark has a proven track record of commitment to ethics and ideals that this country was founded on: honor, duty, and honesty,” said Obama in a press briefing. “Just as George Washington is said to have never told a lie and our sixteenth President was known as “Honest Abe,” I put the trust of my country in a truthful man like Ned.”
The nomination was met by favorable remarks on both sides of the aisle. “I’m excited that the President has finally chosen a nominee that everyone can agree on,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said on the Senate floor. “I foresee no issues in approving Ned. He’s a great man with a good head on his shoulders.”
Ned Stark welcomed the nomination. “I am honored to be selected by the President to serve as Head of the State Department. I believe the United States deserves to be on the cutting-edge of diplomatic relations, which would put us a-head of other others on the world stage. It’s all in the execution.” Ned Stark comes from a long line of Starks which have ruled the North since the mists of time.
Sources close to the administration reveal that Obama is a fan of HBO’s show, Game of Thrones, but is yet only half-way through season one.
