Following the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson, Missouri yesterday morning, the National Rifle Association’s Chris Cox applauded the gun owners. “The NRA has always supported the use of firearms in protecting the individual freedoms of citizens as outlined by the Second Amendment,” he said in a press conference today. “It’s clear from the Justice Department’s report on Ferguson that patriots’ rights were being trampled on, rendering violent action necessary. And while the hero hasn’t come forward yet, I won’t be surprised if he turns out to be a proud card-holding member of the NRA.”
Cox refused to comment on whether he himself fired the shots.
