Chris Christie’s Approval Rating Reaches Presidential Levels

According to a new poll released this week, Chris Christie’s approval rating has dropped to a remarkable 37%, proof that he is finally ready for presidency.

“People want a president they can hate,” explained David Redlawsk, the director of the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling, which conducted the poll. “Once a potential candidate’s approval ratings dip below 40%, we know the public is serious about him or her.” Redlawsk cites President Obama’s approval ratings, which hovered around that golden 40% mark for most of 2014.

Christie has been running a very tight campaign, doing everything possible to change public opinion before the 2016 presidential race goes into full gear. He has withheld Superstorm Sandy funds from residents. He has told his constituents to shut up. And of course, he engineered the elaborate Bridgegate scandal. All of these have helped to decrease his approval rating to presidential levels.

Redlawsk adds that Christie would make a formidable opponent to expected-candidate Hilary Clinton. “Clinton doesn’t get the levels of hate that Christie does. She tried to foment some hatred with her Benghazi scandal, but it hasn’t received the bipartisan vitriol that she expected. Americans need a president to be their national scapegoat, and I think Christie has what it takes.”

The Governor’s office did not respond to Philadelphia Exquirer’s request for comment.
